Guide for arranging Feast in the Forest

  1. Find a Forest - Search for local woodland or forest area with public access to host the event. The Woodland Trust or the Forestry Commission websites are a good place to look if you aren’t sure of a location. Check out the location you plan to eat at in the forest before the event and give people a heads up if the spot you have in mind involves a short walk to get to.

  2. Transport and Meeting Place - Make sure there will be plenty of parking and that people can get there on public transport if needed (choose a venue close to a train station or bus route where possible). Provide a meeting location for those who have selected ‘going’ on the Facebook event. (Postcodes, Google Maps and what3words are all good ways of doing this!)

  3. Date in Calendar - Find a date at least couple of weeks in advance and create an event in your regional YesTribe group. Add it to the main SayYesMore calendar and share it with other regional pages too. The sooner you organise the more people are likely to turn up.

  4. Ideal Numbers - Ideal numbers would be 6-10 people.

  5. Cooking - If you plan to light a fire, BBQ or camping stove, ensure this is done responsibly and in designated areas. If in doubt about whether fires of any kind are allowed, it’s better to host a picnic-style feast where food is cooked in advance.

  6. Introductions - If you have group members signed up who haven’t been to a YesTribe event before, then make some time to introduce yourself via facebook or in person on the day. A quick explanation of SayYesMore and the YesTribe can also be provided by regular members.

  7. Group Photo - Take a group photo during the event and post under the Events graphic on the SYM Team Facebook group along with the number of people who turned up and one/two line story about the event to help us share on social media.
