Be a little part of something greater and join a 2000-mile communal waterbike relay along 2000 miles of Britain's rivers and canals in 2018. Starting in April near London, this project invites the public to celebrate and look after our waterways, ride the waterbike for a section of the route, set up a local clean-up event or simply spread the word on social media.
We're aiming to collect over 1 million pieces of trash from our waterways and towpaths (and further afield as a result of our Ripple Effect initiative, and along the way encourage everyone involved to get outside and appreciate the countryside that we're so lucky to be surrounded by.
People - Be part of something bigger. Aim for 1000 people to get involved.
Get Outside - Nature is medicine. Fresh Air = New Perspective. Figure attached to this? Or 1000 people enough.
Clean-Up - Protect what we know and spread the ripples of care, activity and passion. Collect 1 million pieces of trash and create a blueprint for any community pick-up project
The Schiller Bike is a stable, fun way to explore on water. It also happens to hold the world distance record for a waterbike (along the coastline of Norway in 2017) and is accessible enough to allow people of all levels of fitness and abilities to jump on and cover some ground.
There's a handy platform at the front for litter-picking gear and plenty of carrying space for camping gear and personal items for each rider. Finally, it's a really unique craft and perfect for capturing the imagination of a nation. We'd really like you to try it out. It's an experience.
How to Get involved
- Ride a section
- Organise a group event, paddle or towpath clean-up
- Run a local clean-up in your area
- Share on social media: share a positive message with our hashtags on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. We'll even write a quick copy-and-pastable sentence so you don't even need to think about it!
The Ripple Effect
The Ripple Effect is SayYesMore's action plan. One action spreads a little idea, some inspiration and motivation. So we'd like to invite you to start a ripple of your own.
We'll create a blueprint so anybody inspired by this project can organise their own clean-up, even if it's just one person on a beach or towpath. We'll be suggesting ideas for reducing plastic use and packaging for individuals and businesses, as well as providing re-usable water bottles and coffee mugs to avoid excess throwaway. ,
The Ripple Effect is a mentality, a way of thinking. So much more than just protecting the environment, it's getting involved and using enthusiasm as a tool for impact and action
